Castle Hill Inn
A Castle Hill Inn wedding in Newport is one of my favorite weddings in Rhode Island to photograph. With full panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay, this historic estate is the perfect wedding venue to host your family and friends.
Originally built in 1875 as a summer residence, the 40 acres peninsula is as secluded as it gets. The Inn at Castle Hill features 33 accommodations with luxury amenities to include soaking tubs, cozy fireplaces, and wet bars.
Castle Hill Inn has so many great photo opportunities throughout the property. From Grace Kelly Beach, to the Lighthouse, and the expansive Lawn with the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge in the distance.
Venue Options at Castle Hill Inn
At Castle Hill Inn in Newport, you have 40 acres to play with when it comes to your ceremony and reception locations. Host 35 guests in the 19th-century dining room or up to 400 people on The Lawn.
The Chalet Terrace
The Chalet Terrace is great for couples that want to incorporate a bit of indoor and outdoor into their wedding. On the terrace, Castle Hill has a one-of-a-kind Sperry Tent tying in Newport’s long-time tradition of fine sailing. The terrace boasts panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. You can have your ceremony at the arch as beautiful sailboats sail by in the background, making it a picture-perfect moment. Guests are then welcomed to the outdoor tent for cocktail hour followed by the reception in the Sperry Tent.
The Chalet
The Chalet is perfect for a small, intimate ceremony and reception. You’ll have great views and a bit of history mixed in.
The Lighthouse
This historic guiding light stands at the edge of Castle Hill’s shoreline. My personal favorite for an off-the-path wedding first look. It’s an intimate spot with many different background options. Opting not to do a first look? Head here for a beautiful sunset location.
The Lawn
A gently sloping hill with an oceanfront view of the Atlantic and the beautiful Narragansett Bay in the distance. Head here for a family photos or bridal party photos. Invite guests to play bocce and croquet on this lawn. I also suggest this location for a ceremony and reception. This is the ideal spot for a larger wedding ceremony and reception. I also suggest heading here for gorgeous sunset pics.
Other Options For Wedding Pictures
There are so many great locations for wedding photos at Castle Hill Inn. I’ll give you some of my favorites in terms of lighting and timing to make the most of the property for your wedding pictures.
The Beach House Rooms & Beach Cottage Rooms
Sitting just off the private beach at Castle Hill, the cozy Beach Cottages offer a beautiful, bright space for getting ready. The Beach House is just steps away from the private beach front, the Beach House offers a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. There is plenty of space for your freinds and family to get ready. I personally love the flowering hydrangea bushes in the summer and early fall out front. They are quintessentially New England.
Grace Kelly Beach
While filming High Society in the summer of 1956, Grace Kelly would often spend her time between takes at this charming rocky enclave. It’s another great spot for a first look as it is private and intimate.
Wooded Pathways and Gardens
Just before you reach the lighthouse are some of my favorite wooded pathways – they can give a different feel to your wedding pictures!
Castle Hill is a wonderful wedding venue in Newport to with a variety of options for hosting a destination wedding weekend. It is a quick 90 minute drive from Boston and 3 hours from New York, making it easily accessible from major airports and trains.
